What I'm Reading...

We have a bit of downtime at work lately because of the holidays and just general slowness of sales. So I mentioned last post I'd deliver some fic recs. Here they are!
First, I'd like to mention the book I just read, The Art of Asking by Amanda Palmer. I wrote a review about it at my Wordpress blog, and I really encourage people to check it out, especially if you like Amanda's music, and even if you're a Neil Gaiman fan. It's got some interesting insight into his personal life. Plus, Amanda talks about her art and music processes which is kind of interesting.
Onto the fic recs! Sorry most of these are Twelfth Doctor and Clara. It's definitely my little obsession lately.
Twelve Nights by lotuskasumi - University AU with 12th Doctor and Clara. Combined two prompts from Tumblr: "can you maybe do a college AU where Clara and the Doctor are the only ones who stayed on campus for Christmas break?" and Clara and the Doctor being professors with a casual relationship who want more.
--This is really sweet and intriguing.
The Wedding Tree by antennapedia. Twelve x Clara. Mature situations. For once an encounter with an advanced civilization was not going to end in war, catastrophe, disaster, or even a pell-mell run toward something or away from something. It was just a lovely thank-you ceremony for the two of them, that's all, followed by a lovely night high up in a tree house. With one bed. Wait.
-- This story really sat with me for awhile after I read it, and then I reread it. The relationship and the imagery is really lovely and wonderfully done.
for you alone i will be weak by jotinf. Twelve x Clara. Mature situations. The Doctor and Clara reunite and carry on.
A continuation of sorts and a growing-old-together fic. Good relationship building, and Clara even sees her mother in the past. The ending is really bittersweet.
And for something completely different...
From the Thick of It...
Eat Our Hearts Alive Malcolm Tucker/Reader. “When is a monster not a monster? Oh, when you love it.” -- Caitlyn Siehl. || Non-linear snippets into the married life of you, the (female) Reader, and your husband, the (not actual) Dark Lord of Downing Street, Malcolm Tucker.
Rated M for language and sensual, or outright sexual, content.
This is such a guilty pleasure fic. But I have a secret kink for Malcolm Tucker so I gobbled this up. It's ongoing and really, really intriguing.
Please enjoy!
Cheers.
